Working to Build an International Free Market Climate Agreement

We believe that a regime of low taxes, market competition, property rights and the rule of law, and the use of incentives allowing private, tax-exempt debt for property, plant and equipment, to be the optimal method to achieve rapid innovation and decarbonization. Taken individually, each policy has the capacity to encourage market participation and spur innovation - often with intended - and unintended - benefits to the environment.

To this end, we have assembled the policy ideas within an umbrella document: the Climate & Freedom Accord. When fashioned as an international agreement, adoption of these policies could spur more rapid innovation and decarbonization around the world. Based on input from our global network of scholars, we will be updating our core ideas as we present our latest research findings.

Climate & Freedom Accord:

We are convening workshops around the world to help gain regional perspectives on issues impacting energy and climate policy, and seek to bring a free market perspective to these important directives. We hope this effort will find common ground and reduce the discord surrounding many climate discussions.

Presentation to policymakers in buenos aires, argentina on march fifth 2024The Climate & Freedom International Coalition hosted several events during the 2024, gaining valuable insight from our partners in Argentina, Costa Rica,  Spain, Poland, Belgium, India and the UK.

Government representatives in Argentina were receptive to the Free Market ideas presented during the briefing. In Costa Rica, dozens of leading scholars from Latin American think tanks are factoring these concepts into their policy development work.

As we traveled to Spain, England, Belgium and India later in the year, we gained more evidence that markets, competition and trade are fundamental to growth, and that economic impact must be considered when developing energy and climate policy.

COP28 in Dubai - two events by the Climate & Freedom International CoalitionThe Climate & Freedom International Coalition hosted two events during COP28 in Dubai in December 2023, bringing the message of Free Market Climate Policy to this international gathering.

Climate & Freedom

The key solution for climate change, poverty and other societal ills is the same thing: More Freedom.

Climate & Freedom International Coalition provides a forum for conservative think tanks from around the world to meet, explore ideas, discuss strategy, and share victory for enacting fiscally responsible policies, and the removal or reduction in regulations that hinder commerce and personal liberty. This monthly online meeting focuses on climate and energy policy, and features a news round up, a policy briefing and information discussion. Occasional in-person events help to foster collaboration and camaraderie. The Coalition meetings follow Chatham House rules, so one much register to attend each meeting.
