climate week nyc clean tax cuts grace richardson fundThe Clean Tax Cuts took center stage at the 2nd Annual Clean Capitalist Leadership Council meeting, held in midtown Manhattan during Climate Week 2018. We revealed more structure to our proposed Clean Asset Bond, the foundation of our idea to create a barrier free clean capital market. The Clean Asset Bond is a core component to the proposed Clean Free Market Act, that seeks to remove regulatory barriers to investment and economic participation.

The meeting also saw the New York launch of the Clean Capitalist Coalition, a growing network of policy groups who seek to break down barriers to economic participation and support pro-business and pro-environment policy solutions.

The Clean Tax Cuts Working Group, collaboratively instigated by the Grace Richardson Fund, The Sabin Center at Columbia University, and others mentioned below, convened a “Charrette of Charrettes” at the Clean Capitalism Challenge, exploring specific new proposals using the new “clean tax cuts” (CTC) concept to accelerate capital to clean solutions economy-wide.

Over the weeks and months leading up to Earth Day, a series of seven policy design charrettes (expert-level working groups) convened around the country, crafting simple, high-impact CTC proposals for the following markets and sectors: green bonds (Columbia University), commercial real estate (American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy), agriculture & forestry (The Nature Conservancy), the power sector (American Renewable Energy Institute), clean tech (Arizona State University), oil & gas (One Step In Foundation and the American Sustainable Business Council, held at the University of Colorado-Boulder), and transportation (R Street Institute).

The CTCWG researches how clean capital acceleration, unleashed by tax cuts, can accelerate clean energy and other innovative clean solutions through higher profits. Consider yourself challenged! We invite your participation at any level. Bring your best ideas. The Clean Tax Cuts Working Group wants our feedback and comments, and most importantly, your input in designing new policy concepts and taking them to the next level.
